What a checked box means

The checklist records your own preparation. Checking that you kept a save means you have made that decision; it does not test whether a file exists or whether Steam Cloud has synchronized it. No game folders are read, and no files are uploaded to this wiki.

The launch-instructions item is deliberately separate from the developer’s carryover promise. The full game is unreleased at the source check, so a successful transfer is something to confirm in the launch build rather than mark as tested now.
