The short answer

If the music minigame is stopping your progress, first separate optional stars from casting: Eastshade says no stars are required to cast spells. Demo 0.466 added extra help in the options, and 0.484 eased the first song. These are developer-documented demo changes; the full-release settings and input sequence still need checking.

What to do

  1. Check which demo build is installed before following an old tutorial.
  2. Open the game's options and look for the music-minigame help added in 0.466; the exact current option label is not verified here.
  3. If your aim is to cast a spell, return to its tutorial instead of grinding for a perfect star rating.
  4. For practice, use the music-classroom practice rooms referenced by the developer; do not assume flute mode pauses the world.

Why a low score does not block casting

The developer separates the optional performance challenge from using magic. A disappointing score is therefore not, by itself, evidence that you have failed to unlock spellcasting. Check the current spell tutorial for the action it asks you to perform. This guide does not substitute an untested button combination for that tutorial.

Difficulty also changed during the demo. An early video may show a harder first song or omit later assistance. Compare its version with yours before spending time trying to reproduce its timing.

When assistance is not the answer

An unreadable prompt, missing controller response and an unfinished quest are different problems. Write down the on-screen objective and the precise step that fails. Record your keyboard layout or controller model, whether input reaches the menu, and whether the same problem happens again. Those details make a report more useful than a star count alone.

No universal recovery for being stuck after music class has been established in this review. Avoid treating a classroom progression bug as a rhythm-skill requirement. The control reference and demo issue ledger can help you distinguish documented changes from a new symptom.
