The short answer

The official demo notes document M to open the map on keyboard, right-stick click for the map on controller, and Escape to close readables and the player menu. Use your current in-game settings for bindings not listed here.

A partial reference is better than a guessed control sheet

The table includes only shortcuts explicitly documented in the public patch notes. It is not an exhaustive list of movement, flute notes, interaction, camera or inventory inputs. Those should be checked against the installed game and the keyboard or controller you are actually using.

The developer-console key appears because it was part of the historical change list. It is not a troubleshooting instruction, and you do not need to open that console to follow the normal demo tutorials.

Regional keyboards and saved bindings

Version 0.465 introduced new default bindings for regional keyboards. Eastshade warned that some players’ mappings would be overwritten once. This explains why an old guide or an earlier personal setup might not match the prompts seen after that update.

If a shortcut appears wrong, compare the active input mode and saved controls before assuming the action has been removed. We do not publish a universal reset or a locale-specific replacement chart because those exact settings have not been inspected here.

Read prompt fixes with their dates

The same patch replaced a confusing backspace symbol in the music lesson and noted that PlayStation controller support was still in progress. Version 0.466 says the temporarily rolled-back 0.465 changes were live again. These details matter when comparing footage from different April builds.

The current Steam API now lists full controller support. That does not erase the historical fixes, but it does mean an April “in progress” note should not be presented as the current headline. See the controller-support page for the difference between a store declaration and a tested device result.
