Use the current store state for the headline
The official appdetails response includes both the controller-support field and the full-controller-support feature category. That is the strongest current public declaration found in this check. It is more current than treating an early April development note as a permanent limitation.
The label does not give this wiki a tested compatibility matrix. We have not verified wireless versus wired operation, specific third-party pads, individual accessibility controllers or every icon set. Those results would need a device, operating system and build attached.
What the April patch tells us
Version 0.465 added right-stick click as the map shortcut. It also said PlayStation support was still in progress and that some sprites could remain wrong. A later note confirms that the 0.465 changes returned after a temporary rollback.
These are useful explanations for old recordings and early player reports. They are not a reason to claim that all present-day PlayStation input is broken, nor do they prove that every historical sprite problem has been checked on the current demo by this site.
What to assess in your own demo session
Start the game with the intended controller connected, then compare the displayed input prompts with the device in your hands. Try ordinary navigation, a menu and the documented map shortcut before beginning a longer session. If a prompt is confusing, record its screen and the current build rather than substituting an unverified button sequence.
For a flute tutorial, remember that music stars are not required to cast. A difficulty or targeting question may be different from a controller-detection problem.
